The Development of the Future Earth Program and Cryosphere Science

In the new era of low-altitude economy, meteorological support faces new challenges.

With the vigorous development of low-altitude economic formats such as drone logistics, Urban Air Mobility (UAM), and aviation emergency rescue, the demand for meteorological safety assurance in the low-altitude airspace of 0-3000 meters has become increasingly prominent. Traditional meteorological observation methods can hardly meet the refined operation requirements of the low-altitude economy in terms of spatio-temporal resolution and mobility. Therefore, it is imperative to innovate meteorological support technologies.
The parallel session of "Frontiers of Meteorological Science and Technology for the Low-Altitude Economy and Applications in Typical Scenarios", jointly convened by Guo Jianping, Huang Zhongwei, Wu Songhua, Yang Bo and Xie Chenbo, is an important event during this conference. Focusing on the demands of typical scenarios of the low-altitude economy, this parallel session zeroes in on several key issues in the frontier scientific and technological fields of meteorology for the low-altitude economy. It aims to build a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, explore key issues such as low-altitude meteorological detection, the evolution of aviation hazardous weather, and forecasting and early warning, drive breakthroughs in key core technologies, increase the supply of meteorological science and technology for the low-altitude economy, and empower safe and efficient low-altitude flights.
Guo Jianping from the Key Innovation Team of Boundary Layer Meteorology at the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences and the China Meteorological Administration delivered a special report titled "Several Frontier Issues in Meteorological Science and Technology for the Low-Altitude Economy". In the report, he addressed issues such as the insufficient precision in the monitoring of low-altitude aviation hazardous weather, the unclear evolution mechanism of boundary layer processes, and the inadequate support for high-resolution accurate forecasting and early warning.

The Technical Director of the Low-Altitude Economy of Shallow Sea Technology delivered a special report titled "The Application of Meteorological Detection Equipment in Meteorological Support for the Low-Altitude Economy". The report mainly introduced and shared information from four aspects: the current situation of meteorological support for low-altitude flights, the construction ideas for meteorological support for low-altitude flights, low-altitude meteorological detection equipment and its applications, as well as relevant work and experiences in the low-altitude economy.

Meteorological Support Scheme for the Low-Altitude Economy in Shallow Sea Areas

Based on traditional meteorological detection equipment, Shallow Sea Technology has launched meteorological support products specifically designed for low-altitude flight services. These products can be installed at public takeoff and landing platforms, public flight routes, or operational takeoff and landing points to monitor in real time indicators such as wind, rain, clouds, fog, temperature, humidity, aerosols, and the on-site environment.
